Below is a look at the "before & after" of photographs on film I have created over the years. Multiple techniques were used to achieve the final image including masking, color correction, spot removal, cloning, and basic levels.
I have found techniques like cropping, cloning, and spot removal can help create hierarchy and reduce complexity.
The use of color or reduction of it along with contrast can add to the overall "tone" of a photograph.
